- Software Engineering Symposium 2008
- II Workshop on Data Mining
- 2o. Taller Mexicano de Interacción Humano-Computadora
Software Engineering Symposium 2008
Our workshop was initially organized in 1997 under the name (in Spanish language) "Taller de Ingeniería de Software" (Software Engineering Workshop).
Some years later, in 2005, as part of the Mexican Conference (in Spanish language) "Encuentro Nacional de Computacion" (Now called Mexican International Conference on Computer Science ) our workshop acquired the category of Symposium. Since the beginning, the workshop has had the following objectives:
Objectives:
To join the academic community who has novel proposals in software engineering education, research and experimentation.
To generate guidelines for software engineering curricula and courses contents.
To generate recommendations for the initiative (in Spanish language) “Programa Nacional de la Industria de Software” (National Program for Software Industry) sponsored by the (in Spanish language) “Secretaría de Economía de México” (Mexican Ministry of Economy)
SES 08 will allow a more direct contact among academy and industry and the opportunity of:
To inform research advances on software engineering practices.
To know the real applications of theoretic knowledge.
To listen the necessities of industry and to know the tendencies in the real practice of software development.
To discuss the advances about standardization, models, professional profiles and curricula structures.
To define new perspectives and guidelines in software engineering practices
Data mining is the extraction of information, hidden but predictable, in large databases. It is a powerful technology with great potential to help companies to focus on the most relevant information in their data warehouses. Data mining tools predict future trends and behaviors, enabling businesses to take proactive and knowledge-driven decisions. The analysis offered by such a tools is beyond the more simple analysis of past events provided by typical decision-support systems. Data mining tools can process business queries that typically consume a long time to be answered by other means, time that users of this information are hardly willing to accept. These tools explore large databases looking for hidden patterns, and they usually find predictable information that an expert cannot find because it is beyond their human capabilities.
Topics include, but not limited to, the following research areas:
Audio Mining
Data Mining Applications
Social Data Mining
Web Mining
Algorithms for Data Mining Optimization
